Butylparaben is an organic compound that has proven to be a very successful antimicrobial preservative in cosmetics, can also be used in active molecule suspensions, and as a food flavoring additive[1].
In Vitro: Butylparaben (0-500 μM, 44 h) inhibits orcine fertilization, cleavage, and blastocyst formation rates[2].
Butylparaben induces DNA Damage, apoptosis, and autophagy in porcine oocytes[2].
In Vivo: Butylparaben (0-50 mg/kg/day, s.c., for 13 weeks) has not systemic toxicity in rats[1].
