2,6-Dimethoxyphenol (Syringol) is a phenolic compound that scavenges free radicals and exhibits antioxidant activity. 2,6-Dimethoxyphenol is the substrate for determining laccase activity[1][2]. In Vivo:2,6-Dimethoxyphenol (12 mg/rat, po, single dose) inhibits the formation of N-nitrosomorpholine (NMOR) in the stomach and blood of Sprague-Dawley rats models[3].
