L-(-)-Sorbose (L-Sorbose) is a monosaccharide that induces the production of cellulase. L-(-)-Sorbose regulates the coordinated transcription of 6 cellulase genes (including egl3) in Trichoderma reesei strains. L-(-)-Sorbose is currently the only monosaccharide reported to exhibit cellulase-inducing activity[1].
In Vitro:L-(-)-Sorbose (500-2000 μg/mL; 24 h) induces carboxymethylcellulase activity in Trichoderma reesei PC-3-7 and QM9414 resting mycelia, with PC-3-7 showing four- to five-fold higher activity than QM9414 after 24 h incubation at 500 μg/mL and 2000 μg/mL, respectively[1].
L-(-)-Sorbose (500-2000 μg/mL; 6-9 h) induces coordinately proportional cellulase gene transcription in Trichoderma reesei PC-3-7 and QM9414[1].
