Norgestrienone is a progestin receptor agonist. Norgestrienone is commonly used as a progesterone compound in birth control pills and can be combined with ethinylestradiol. Norgestrienone is a click chemical. It contains Alkyne groups and can undergo copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition reactions (CuAAc) with molecules containing Azide groups.
