Astragaloside III is a triterpenoid saponin. Astragaloside III can be extracted from Astragalus root. Astragaloside III increases NKG2D and induces TACE phosphorylation. Astragaloside III induces Apoptosis. Astragaloside III has antiviral activity against dengue serotypes 1 and 3. Astragaloside III has anticancer activity against breast and colon cancer[1][2][3][4][5].
In Vitro:Astragaloside III (3.125-6.25 μg/mL) shows antiviral activity against dengue serotype 1 and serotype 3[1].
Astragaloside III (4-40 nM) can significantly increase the expression of NKG2D and the production of IFN-γ in NK cells[2].
Astragaloside III (10 μM; 8 h) significantly reduces the cell viability of bEnd.3 cells (about 10%)[3].
Astragaloside III (10-100 ng/mL; 24-48 h) reduces the viability of MCF-7 breast cancer cells and increase the apoptosis rate[4].
In Vivo:Astragaloside III (50 mg/kg; i.v.; every 2 days; a total of 5 times) can significantly inhibit tumor growth and prolong survival time in CT26 tumor-bearing mice without obvious toxic side effects[2].
Astragaloside III (10-20 mg/kg; i.p.; every 2 days) can inhibit the growth of MDA-MB-231 breast cancer xenografts in nude mice and increase tumor cell apoptosis[4].
