Lactitol monohydrate reduces the populations of Bacteroides, Clostridium, coliforms and Eubacterium, while increasing the populations of Lactobacillus and Streptococcus. Lactitol monohydrate can be used in the research of portosystemic encephalopathy and chronic constipation[1].
