Introduction of 81025-04-9 :

Lactitol monohydrate (D-Lactitol monohydrate) is a sugar analog of lactulose. Lactitol monohydrate acts as a prebiotic, fermented by intestinal flora, promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria (such as Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium), inhibiting pathogenic bacteria, increasing volatile fatty acid production, and reducing ammonia levels. Lactitol monohydrate can be used as an alternative sweetener. Lactitol monohydrate can be also used in research on constipation and hepatic encephalopathy[1][2][3]. In Vitro:Lactitol (3 mM; 24 h) monohydrate stimulates gas production rate, reduces ammonia levels in the first 8 h, increases total volatile fatty acid production, and shows synergistic effects with lactic acid bacteria in modulating swine cecal microflora in vitro[1]. In Vivo:Lactitol (300-800 mg/kg) monohydrate can improve the constipation symptoms of Sprague Dawley rats induced by Loperamide (HY-156131)[2].
