Dehydrocholic acid is a product of the oxidation and synthesis of bile acids and the main component of the choleretic agent Decholin. Dehydrocholic acid can be used to increase bile production[1][2]. In Vitro: Decholin is a choleretic agent. Its main component is Dehydrocholic acid, and it has certain choleretic and mild hepatoprotective effects[1]. In Vivo: Dehydrocholic acid (1,2,3,4 μmol/min/100g BW; intravenous infusion; the dose was increased step by step, and each dose was infused for 30 minutes; a total of 2 hours) can increase bile flow, but it inhibits the secretion of endogenous and exogenous bile acids and biliary lipids in male rats[2].
