Piriprost (U-60257) is a Glutathione-S-transferase inhibitor. Piriprost inhibits leukotriene C/D biosynthesis without influencing cyclooxygenase-derived arachidonic acid metabolism products. Piriprost antagonizes leukotriene C/D contractions in vitro. Piriprost inhibits antigen-induced bronchopulmonary changes in monkeys and guinea pigs in vivo. Piriprost can be used for the research of asthma[1].
In Vitro:Piriprost inhibits leukotriene C/D synthesis in rat peritoneal mononuclear cells with an ID50 of 4.57 μM, without affecting cyclooxygenase-derived arachidonic acid metabolism products[1].
Piriprost inhibits rat basophilic leukemia cell glutathione-S-transferase activity with an ID50 of 37 μM[1].
