DL-Pantolactone is a γ-lactone that can be hydrolyzed to Pantoic acid (HY-W399035) by the lactonohydrolase of Fusarium oxysporum. DL-Pantolactone also can be used in the preparation of 3,5-dinitrobenzoyl-DL-pantolactone[1][2]. In Vitro:D-Pantolactone is stereospecifically hydrolyzed to D-pantoate with 5380 mM (700 mg/mL) D,L-Pantolactone as the substrate, with automatic controlling of the pH of the reaction mixture at 7.0 with 15 M NH4OH[1].
