(20R)-Protopanaxadiol is a metabolite of ginsenosides. (20R)-Protopanaxadiol has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activities, but shows no significant cytotoxicity against tumor cell lines. In addition, (20R)-Protopanaxadiol can inhibit the uptake of 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG)[1][2][3].
In Vitro:(20R)-Protopanaxadiol exhibits anti-Helicobacter pylori activity, with MICs of 50, 50, 100, and 100 μg/mL against ATCC43504, NCTC11638, 82516, and 4, respectively[1].
(20R)-Protopanaxadiol does not show significant cytotoxicity against multiple tumor cell lines, such as L1210, P388, A549, and Me180, with IC50 values all exceeding 100 μM[1].
(20R)-Protopanaxadiol (3.125-25 μM; 24 h) inhibits the excessive production of NO and the release of TNF-α and IL-6 in LPS (HY-D1056)-activated RAW 264.7 cells[2].
(20R)-Protopanaxadiol (100 μM; 1 min) suppresses the uptake of 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG) in EAT cells, with an uptake rate of 86.9%[3].
(20R)-Protopanaxadiol has a CC50 of 6.1 μM in MT-4 cells over 5 days[3].
