Cedryl acetate

Cedryl acetate is an orally active α-glucosidase inhibitor with an IC₅₀ of 94 μM against yeast α-glucosidase. Cedryl acetate reduces high-fat diet-induced body weight gain, visceral fat pad weight, adipocyte hypertrophy, hepatic lipid accumulation, glucose intolerance, insulin resistance and gluconeogenesis. Cedryl acetate can be used in the research of obesity and obesity-related metabolic syndrome^[1][2]. In Vitro:Cedryl acetate (20 mg per flask; 6 days) is biotransformed by Cunninghamella elegans into eight distinct hydroxylated, deacetylated, or oxidized metabolites^[2]. In Vivo:Cedryl acetate (100 mg/kg; dietary supplementation; daily; 19 weeks) potently prevents high-fat diet-induced obesity and related metabolic syndrome in male C57BL/6J mice, reducing final body weight by ~30% relative to untreated high-fat diet-fed mice and improving glucose homeostasis, hepatic lipid accumulation, and adipocyte function via regulation of metabolism-related gene expression, with limited effects on gut microbiota^[1].
