Azathramycin (Azaerythromycin A) is a methylated derivative of the antibiotic Azithromycin (HY-17506). In Vitro:Azithromycin is an antibiotic that exerts antibacterial activity by binding to ribosomes and inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. It can selectively target and eliminate senescent human fibroblasts, making it a promising candidate for anti-aging research. Azithromycin affects various ion channels, including SCN5A, hERG, KCNQ1+KCNE1, L-type Ca++ channels, and Kir2.1[1][2].
