1,2-Cyclohexanedione is an arginine modification reagent. 1,2-Cyclohexanedione interferes with the degradation of low-density lipoprotein by modifying the arginine group in apolipoprotein. 1,2-Cyclohexanedione can be used in the research of familial hypercholesterolemia[1][2][3].
In Vitro:1,2-Cyclohexanedione (50 mM; up to 3 h) causes a steady leak of potassium from human red blood cells[1].
