NNC 38-1049 is an orally active, potent and competitive histamine H3 receptor antagonist. NNC 38-1049 produced an increase in extracellular levels of histamine in the paraventricular nucleus. NNC 38-1049 decreases food intake and body weight, which is promising for research of obesity[1].
In Vivo:NNC 38-1049 (20-40 mg/kg, first p.o. for 5 days then i.p., twice daily, 15 days) causes a reduction in food intake and a significant decrease in body weight in old DIO rat[1].
NNC 38-1049 (40 mg/kg, i.p., twice daily) significantly decreases 7-h water intake of old DIO rats[1].
