L-Leucinol ((+)-Leucinol) is a competitive aminopeptidase inhibitor with a Ki value of 17 μM. As a dietary intake inhibitor, L-Leucinol reduces the basal dietary leucine intake in rats via microinjection into the rat anterior piriform cortex[1][2]. In Vitro:L-leucinol interacts with the two metal ions in the binuclear active site of Co (II)-substituted aminopeptidase from Aeromonas proteolytica, altering the electronic symmetry or coordination geometry of Co2+ ions, which is evidenced by the red shift of absorption peaks and changes in molar absorptivity[1].
