Introduction of 6892-68-8 :

DTE (Dithioerythritol) is a sulfur-containing sugar derived from the corresponding 4-carbon monosaccharide erythrose. DTE is an epimer of Dithiothreitol (DTT) (HY-15917). DTE is a thiol reducing agent[1]. In Vitro:DTE (0-10 mM, 30 min) compensates for the inhibitory effect of TPT on human sex steroid hormone metabolism related enzymes by protecting the cysteine through reduction, EC50s for 17β-HSD 1, P450arom, 3α-HSD 2 and 17β-HSD 3 are 0.21, 0.91, 0.9 and 12.9 mM, respectively[1].
DTE (0-2 mM, 24 h) improves sperm quality after freezing-thawing by inhibiting the oxidative stress and protecting sperm membrane integrity[2]. In Vivo:DTE (0.25%-1% v:v in drinking water) exhibits antioxidant activity, and alleviates liver and kidney injury in mouse bile duct ligation (BDL) models[2].
