Halobetasol propionate (BMY-30056) is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid. Halobetasol propionate exhibits anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive properties. Halobetasol propionate can be used for the study of psoriasis[1][2]. In Vitro:Halobetasol propionate shows antiproliferative effects in the cotton-pellet granuloma assay in rats[2].
Halobetasol propionate has vasoconstrictive effects in the cutaneous vasoconstriction assay[2].
In Vivo:Halobetasol propionate (0.05% ointment; topical; twice a day; for 4 weeks) improves psoriasis in SCID mouse-psoriasis xenograft model[1].
Halobetasol propionate (ED50 of 1.45 µg/animal) inhibits dermatitis in the ultraviolet-induced dermatitis in guinea pigs[2].
Halobetasol propionate has anti-inflammatory effects in croton oil-induced ear edema in rats (ED50 of 0.5 µg/animal) and mice (ED50 of <0.32 µg/animal)[2].
Halobetasol propionate inhibits dermatitis by Oxazolone (HY-126360) in mice (ED50 of 0.8 µg/animal) and in rats (ED50 of ~1 µg/animal)[2].
