Methyl methanesulfonate is an alkylating agent which transfers methyl groups, and induces DNA damage. Methyl methanesulfonate is a biochemical reagent that can be used as a biological material or organic compound for life science related research[1][2].
In Vitro:Methyl methanesulfonate (50-800 μM; 24 h) upregulates the generation of phosphorylated p53, RIPK and ROS, induces necroptosis in cell A549[1].
In Vivo:Methyl methanesulfonate (120 mg/kg, ip, single dose) induces DNA damage in mouse models[2].
