Isovanillic acid (3-Hydroxy-4-methoxybenzoic acid) is a phenolic acid isolated from isolated from Scrophularia ningpoensis, with anti-thrombotic activity[1][2][3].
In Vitro:Isovanillic acid (30 μM, 40 min) increases the 2-[14C(U)]-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG) uptake in LHCN-M2 cell, exhibits potential in research of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes[2].
Isovanillic acid (10-100 µg/mL, 5-10 min) exhibits a slight uncompetitive inhibitory activity against thrombin (IC50=0.9245 mM). Isovanillic acid inhibits the formation of fibrin clot and blood clot, prolongs the partial thromboplastin time, increases the closure time of platelet aggregation, exhibiting antithrombotic, anticoagulant and antiplatelet activities[3].
