Tetradecyl (Myristyl) acetate is a native sex pheromone component of Yponomeuta rorellus. Tetradecyl acetate elicits orientation behaviour, upwind flight, and landing at the odour source in male Yponomeuta rorellus. Tetradecyl acetate can be used in research on insecticides[1].
In Vitro:Tetradecyl acetate (10 μg) activates the large spike amplitude receptor cell in sensilla trichodea of male Yponomeuta rorellus at a level of ~24 spikes per second, showing significant electrophysiological activity[1].
Tetradecyl acetate (10 μg) activates the medium spike amplitude receptor cell in sensilla trichodea of male Yponomeuta cagnagellus at a level of ~10 spikes per second, with equal potency to (E)-11-tetradecenyl acetate[1].
