1,8-Octanediol is an aliphatic diol and also a monomer used in the synthesis of polyesters and polyurethanes. As a monomer, 1,8-Octanediol participates in the lipase-catalyzed bulk polycondensation with adipic acid for the synthesis of aliphatic polyesters. 1,8-Octanediol can be applied in relevant studies in fields such as material synthesis[1][2][3].
In Vitro: 1,8-octanediol undergoes bulk polycondensation with adipic acid, catalyzed by CALB immobilized on Accurel, to produce polyester[2].
1,8-octanediol undergoes polycondensation with Citric acid (HY-N1428) in a deep eutectic solvent to yield degradable elastic POC materials loaded with quaternary ammonium/phosphonium salts. The anti-E. coli activity of these materials varies with the hydrophobicity of the salts, among which POC-M possesses both strong antibacterial activity and good biocompatibility with L929 cells, making it suitable for use as a wound dressing[3].
