Celite (Diatomaceous earth) is a filter aid. Celite induces hepatic tryptophan oxygenase activity and reduces hepatic glycogen in mouse experiments. Celite can be used for studies of endotoxemia[1]. In Vivo:Celite (5 mg; i.p.; daily; 5 days) induces sustained activation of hepatic tryptophan oxygenase in mice, reduces the level of endogenous hepatic glycogen, and exerts no effect on the carbon clearance function of the reticuloendothelial system[1].
