Ceforanide is a semisynthetic parental cephalosporin antibiotic, derived from 7-aminocephalosporanic acid. Ceforanide has antibacterial activity and is a potent inhibitor of most species of streptococci, excluding enterococci[1][2]. In Vitro:Ceforanide (12.5 μg/mL) inhibits all S. pneumonia, beta-hemolytic group A streptococci, penicillinase- and non-penicillinase-producing S. aureus, K. pneumoniae, and P. mirabilis tested[2].
