D-(-)-Pantolactone is an important intermediate that can be used in the synthesis of other active compounds, such as the molluscicide Cyanolide A. D-(-)-Pantolactone is also a calibrant for circular dichroism (CD)[1][2][3]. In Vitro: Derivatives of D-(-)-Pantolactone exhibit good inhibitory activities against FAS and lipid accumulation, and can be used in the research of anti-obesity drugs[3].
