Introduction of 58919-61-2 :

Coprine is an orally active disulfiram (HY-B0240)-like component and an inhibitor of aldehyde dehydrogenase. Coprine is isolated from Coprinus atranentarius. Coprine inhibits low Km aldehyde dehydrogenase in rat liver and increases blood acetaldehyde levels during in vivo ethanol metabolism. Coprine does not inhibit semi-purified low Km aldehyde dehydrogenase from rat liver in vitro. Coprine can be used in studies related to alcoholism[1][2][3]. In Vitro:Coprine (0.1-1.0 mM; 1-10 min) does not inhibit semi-purified rat liver low Km aldehyde dehydrogenase in vitro[3]. In Vivo:Coprine (3-243 mg/kg; i.p.) dose-dependently increases the acetaldehyde/ethanol ratio in alveolar gas of ethanol-treated rats, with the maximal effect occurring 4-6 hours after administration of 150 mg/kg Coprine[2].
Coprine (9-81 mg/kg; i,g.; single administration) dose-dependently inhibits low Km aldehyde dehydrogenase in rat liver in vivo[3].
