Meclonazepam (Ro 11-3128) is a benzodiazepine compound with anxiolytic effect[1]. Meclonazepam is active against immature S. mansoni. Meclonazepam (30 μM) eliminates 100% of immature parasites. Meclonazepam has a anti-schistosomal effect[2].
In Vitro: Meclonazepam causes initially a massive spastic paralysis of immature S. mansoni[2].
In Vivo: Meclonazepam (0.1-5.6 mg/kg) exhibits anxiolytic effect in gerbils[1].
Meclonazepam (40 and 80 mg/kg) Has highly significant effect on the immature schistosomes[2].
