2,7-Dihydroxynaphthalene (2,7-DHN) is a substrate of a new group of aromatic prenyltransferases in fungi and can be catalyzed to undergo a regiospecific prenylation reaction. 2,7-Dihydroxynaphthalene can undergo reactions such as oxidation and substitution[1][2]. In Vitro:2,7-Dihydroxynaphthalene can be catalyzed by aromatic prenyltransferases in fungi to undergo a regiospecific Friedel-Crafts alkylation reaction, binding dimethylallyl diphosphate at the 3-position to form a monoprenylated product[1].
