Introduction of 56391-57-2 :

Netilmicin (Sch 20569) sulfate is a broad-spectrum semisynthetic aminoglycoside antibiotic. Netilmicin sulfate exhibits antibacterial activity against aminoglycoside-susceptible gram-negative strains and aminoglycoside-resistant strain, such as Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus, Serratia, and Enterobacter, with MIC of 0.125-8 μg/mL[1]. In Vitro:Netilmicin sulfate exhibits antibacterial activity against aminoglycoside-susceptible gram-negative strains and aminoglycoside-resistant strain, such as Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus, Serratia, and Enterobacter, with MIC of 0.125-8 μg/mL[1]. In Vivo:Netilmicin (PD50: <0.25->50 mg/kg; s.c.; once; 1 h after infection) sulfate shows in vivo antibacterial activity against many clinically important bacteria in CF1 mice, especially against strains resistant to Gentamicin (HY-A0276A) and Tobramycin (HY-B0441) that produce the adenylating enzyme ANT (2")[1].
Netilmicin (i.v.: LD50 of 40 mg/kg; i.p.: LD50 of 125 mg/kg; s.c.: LD50 of 175 mg/kg) sulfate has a higher acute toxicity than Gentamicin in mice[1].
