5,6,7,8-Tetramethoxycoumarin (artelin) was isolated from the chloroform phase of Pelargonium sidoides roots and characterized by EI-MS m/z 266 [M]+, UV λmax 214, 329 nm, mp 52-55°C, and NMR data consistent with four methoxy substituents[2].
5,6,7,8-Tetramethoxycoumarin (5%; daily for two weeks) exhibits endocidal activity against four-month-old Triadica sebifera seedlings at 10 μL of a 5% solution applied to intact leaves[3].
