2-Heptanol is one of the chemical compounds identified in turmeric and turmeric rhizome essential oil. 2-Heptanol can speed up amino acid metabolism and slow down membrane transport, exhibiting antibacterial activity. The rhizome essential oil has good antibacterial and antioxidant properties[1][2].
In Vitro:2-Heptanol (0-20 μL cm-3, 5 days) inhibits the mycelial growth of B. cinereal in vitro in a dose-dependent manner[1].
2-Heptanol (0-0.16 mL cm-3, placed on a perforated partition, 4 days) shows significant antifungal effects in tomatoes[1].
