Thyminose is a natural product, a 2-deoxyaldopentose, that can be obtained by hydrolyzing the nucleosides that make up thym nucleic acid[1]. In Vitro:Thyminose can give a positive reaction with Kilian's reagent and Schiff's reagent, and it can consume the theoretical amount of iodine required in the Willstätter and Schudel oxidation methods, among other things[1].
