HTBA (3-Hydroxy-2,4,6-triiodobenzoic acid) is a biochemical reagent and important intermediate. HTBA can be used in the research of life science, organic chemistry and other fields[1].
In Vitro:HTBA can be used as an indicator for the detection of 5'-nucleotidase. Compared with the traditional phenol system, it is more sensitive and less likely to denature proteins, and the absorbance can be read at 520 nm[1].
HTBA can be used as a chromogenic substrate for lipid quantification. In the sequential microenzymatic assay of cholesterol, triglycerides, and phospholipids, it undergoes oxidative condensation with 4-aminoantipyrine under the catalysis of horseradish peroxidase to generate a pink dye for the detection of hydrogen peroxide[2].
