2-Methylbenzaldehyde is an acaricide found in Morinda officinalis. 2-Methylbenzaldehyde exerts fumigant and contact acaricidal activity against Dermatophagoides farinae, Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, and Haemaphysalis longicornis. 2-Methylbenzaldehyde can be used for the research of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome[1].
In Vitro:2-Methylbenzaldehyde (24 h) potently exerts fumigant acaricidal activity against D. farinae (LD50 = 0.95 μg/cm3), D. pteronyssinus (LD50 = 0.87 μg/cm3), and H. longicornis (LD50 = 1.28 μg/cm3)[1].
2-Methylbenzaldehyde (24 h) potently exerts contact acaricidal activity against D. farinae (LD50 = 0.51 μg/cm2), D. pteronyssinus (LD50 = 0.47 μg/cm2), and H. longicornis (LD50 = 0.94 μg/cm2)[1].
