3β-Hydroxy-5-cholenoic acid is a steroidal monohydroxy bile acid and serves as a substrate for sulfation reactions. It is applicable to the research of extrahepatic biliary atresia and recurrent intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy[1][2]. In Vitro: 3b-Hydroxy-5-cholenoic acid (compound 15) (up to 10 μM; 24 h) does not act as a pharmacological chaperone for NPC1L1L1072T/L1168I in HEK293 cells, with no observed correction of the mutant protein's ER localization defect at concentrations up to 10 μM for 24 h[1].
