Oxeladin citrate is an orally active and brain-penetrant cough suppressant as well as a selective sigma 1 receptor agonist (Ki = 25 nM). Oxeladin can be used for pulmonary diseases and stroke research[1][2].
In Vitro:Oxeladin (10 μM, 24 h) facilitates S1R mediated brain-derived neurotrophic factor secretion from the neuronal MN9D cell line. [2].
In Vivo:Oxeladin (135 mg/kg/d, p.o. for 11 d) reduces the extent of infarct expansion in the subacute phase of stroke in rats[1].
