Sternbin (Eriodictyol 7-methyl ether) is a flavanone and antibacterial agent. Sternbin can be isolated from Heliotropium sinuatum. Sternbin has antibacterial activity against a wide range of bacteria. Sternbin has antiviral activity against infectious salmon anemia virus (ISAV). Sternbin inhibits the contraction of isolated rat smooth muscle[1][2][3][4].
In Vitro:Sternbin shows a MIC of 0.5 μg/μL against Proteus mirabilis, 1.0 μg/μL against Bacillus coagulans, and 2.0 μg/μL against Bacillus subtilis[2].
Sternbin (0.1-100 μg/mL; 7 days) inhibits ISAV replication in SHK-1 cells with an EC50 of 0.20 μg/mL[3].
Sternbin (0.1 μM to 0.3 mM) exhibits relaxant effects on rat isolated ileum, pulmonary artery and trachea[4].
In Vivo:Sternbin (200 mg/kg; i.p.; once every 1 day for 2 times) protects 100% of ISAV-infected Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar), maintaining 100% fish viability[3].
