(-)-Alkannin, found in Alkanna tinctoria, is used as a food coloring. (-)-Alkannin shows anticancer activity, arrests cell cycle, and induces apoptosis. (-)-Alkannin improves hepatic inflammation in a Rho-kinase pathway[1][2][3]. In Vitro: (-)-Alkannin inhibits HCT-116 and SW-480 cells growth with IC50s of 2.38 and 4.53 μM, respectively[1].
