D-Thyroxine (D-T4) is an orally active thyroid hormone that inhibits the secretion of TSH. D-Thyroxine can inhibit goiter, promote metamorphosis of tadpoles and influence cholesterol metabolism. D-Thyroxine can be used for the study of hypercholesterolemia[1][2][3]. In Vivo:D-Thyroxine (feed administration; 7 mg/kg; 14 days) reduces serum cholesterol by 50% in hypercholesterolemic rats[1].
