Hexacosanoic acid is a very long-chain fatty acid. Abnormally elevated levels of Hexacosanoic acid are closely associated with various diseases, such as X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy, adrenomyeloneuropathy, atherosclerosis, and dementia[1][2][3]. In Vivo:Hexacosanoic acid (4 mM; intraperitoneal injection; single dose) causes behavioral changes in rats, such as impaired locomotor and exploratory capabilities, as well as reduced orienting and investigatory responses[3].
