2-Phenylpropionic acid is an intermediate in the metabolism of alpha-Methylstyrene. 2-Phenylpropionic acid covalently binds to rat liver protein. 2-Phenylpropionic acid can be used in the research of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents[1][2][3]. In Vitro:2-Phenylpropionic acid (1 mM; 0-3 h) shows time-dependent covalent binding to rat hepatocyte proteins[1]. In Vivo:2-Phenylpropionic acid (130 mg/kg; i.p.) leads to covalent binding to liver proteins in male Sprague-Dawley rats, with acyl-CoA formation contributing more to this binding than acyl glucuronidation[2].
