Timonacic (1,3-Thiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid) is an orally active thiol antioxidant. Timonacic has anti-aging and anti-hepatotoxic effects. Timonacic has a LD50 of 400 mg/kg for mice. Timonacic can be used in the research of liver diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, and cancer[1][2]. In Vitro:Timonacic can form a chelate with palladium(II) chloride in a buffered medium. Based on this, a spectrophotometric method has been developed to effectively determine its content. This method exhibits a good linear relationship, high precision, and accuracy, and is suitable for pharmaceutical quality control[1]. In Vivo:Timonacic (25-60 mg/kg; 2 weeks) is well tolerated by dogs[2].
