(S)-β-Aminoisobutyric acid is an orally active S-isomer of β-Aminoisobutyric acid (HY-W012974). (S)-β-Aminoisobutyric acid can be produced through the catabolism of thymine and valine. (S)-β-Aminoisobutyric acid reduces apoptosis and increases the ratio of p-AMPK. (S)-β-Aminoisobutyric acid has cardioprotective effects. (S)-β-Aminoisobutyric acid is associated with acute aerobic exercise[1][2][3].
In Vitro:(S)-β-Aminoisobutyric acid (10-30 mM) increases p-AMPK expression in a dose-dependent manner in H9C2 cardiomyocytes[2].
In Vivo:(S)-β-Aminoisobutyric acid (75 mg/kg; p.o.; 8 weeks) improves the cardiac structure and function of rats with heart failure after myocardial infarction[2].
