Sinapaldehyde

Sinapaldehyde is a methoxyphenol and a selective COX-2 inhibitor (IC₅₀: 47.8 µM) that can be extracted from various plants. Sinapaldehyde has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant activities. Sinapaldehyde can scavenge DPPH free radicals (IC₅₀: 172 μM). Sinapaldehyde is active against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria^[1][2]. In Vitro: Sinapaldehyde (1-100 μM; 0-25 h) can inhibit the generation of NO and ROS, the production of IL-6 and TNF-α, the expression of iNOS and COX-2, as well as the phosphorylation of p65, ERK1/2 and SAPK/JNK in LPS (HY-D1056)-induced RAW 264.7 cells^[1].
Sinapaldehyde has MIC values of 64, 128, 128, 128, 64 and 128 μg/mL for Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium, Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus aureus and MRSA, respectively^[2].
