Furaltadone hydrochloride is an orally active antibacterial agent that can be used for the study of intestinal Salmonella infections. Furaltadone has in vitro inhibitory effects on Staphylococcus. In addition, Furaltadone shows inhibitory effects on allergic reactions[1][2][3]. In Vitro:Furaltadone (10 µM, 30 minutes) inhibits antigen-induced mast cell degranulation in RBL-2H3 and BMMC cells by suppressing the Lyn/Syk signaling pathway, with an IC50 of approximately 3.9 µM[3]. Furaltadone (10 µM, 30 minutes) inhibits antigen-induced phosphorylation of signaling proteins in RBL-2H3 and BMMC cells, suppressing mast cell activation with no cytotoxic effects[3]. In Vivo:Furaltadone (3-30 mg/kg, p.o., single dose) reduces the allergic response in IgE-mediated PCA in BALB/c mice by inhibiting mast cell activation and degranulation[3].
