Introduction of 36284-77-2 :

Hederasaponin B is an orally active oleanane-type triterpenoid saponin and antiviral agent. Hederasaponin B is isolated from the leaves of Acanthopanax senticosus, Hedera nepalensis var. sinensis, and the rhizomes of Souliea vaginata. Hederasaponin B inhibits the expression of the viral capsid protein VP2 and attenuates virus-induced cytopathic effects. Hederasaponin B exhibits activity against Enterovirus 71 subtypes C3 and C4a. Hederasaponin B shows no hepatoprotective effect against CCl4-induced hepatocyte injury. Hederasaponin B is used in research on hand, foot, and mouth disease[1][2][3]. In Vitro:Hederasaponin B (0.4-50 μg/mL; 48 h) exhibits antiviral activity against EV71 C3 (EC50 = 24.77 μg/mL) and EV71 C4a (EC50 = 41.77 μg/mL) in Vero cells, with a CC50 greater than 50 μg/mL[1].
Hederasaponin B (50 μg/mL; 48 h) strongly inhibits EV71 VP2 capsid protein expression in Vero cells infected with either EV71 C3 or C4a subgenotypes[1].
Hederasaponin B (0.1-100 μM; 30 min) shows no hepatoprotective activity against CCl4 (HY-Y0298)-induced injury in human HepG2 cells at concentrations up to 100 μM[2]. In Vivo:Oral administration of 150 mg/kg Hederasaponin B (150 mg/kg; p.o.; single dose) to rats results in extensive metabolism primarily via deglycosylation (52.46 % of fecal metabolites), with 47 total metabolites identified across feces, urine, and plasma[3].
