Gliquidone can bind to the pancreatic β-cells and increases insulin release to regulate blood glucose levels. Gliquidone significantly decreases LPS (HY-D1056)-induced proinflammatory responses and inhibits ERK/STAT3/NF-κB phosphorylation in BV2 microglial cells. Gliquidone can suppress microgliosis, microglial hypertrophy mediated by LPS, and proinflammatory cytokine COX-2 and IL-6 levels in murine model. Gliquidone also exhibits good anticancer activity in lung carcinoma cells. Gliquidone has antioxidant property. Gliquidone can be studied in research for type 2 diabetes and cancers[1][2].
In Vitro:Gliquidone (Compound GQD) (100-300 μg/mL) exhibits low IC50 value in DPPH (236.84) and superoxide radical scavenging (174.20), suggesting a high antioxidant activity[2].
Gliquidone (0-200 μg, 24 h) has anticancer activity against A549 human alveolar lung cancer cells with an IC50 of 93.49 μg/mL[2].
In Vivo:Gliquidone (10-20 mg/kg, i.p., 3 d) significantly decreases the LPS-induced increase in Iba-1 intensity, Iba-1 positive cells, and Iba-1-labeled area only in the hippocampal CA3 region in a mouse model of Parkinson’s disease (PD)[1].
