Laudanidine (Tritopin) is a benzyltetrahydroisoquinoline alkaloid with a marginal antiprotozoal activity[1]. In Vitro:Laudanidine (compound 8) (0.002-100 µg/mL; 70 h, 96 h) exhibits marginal in vitro antiprotozoal activity against L. donovani axenic amastigotes (IC50 of 193.3 µM), T. b. rhodesiense (IC50 of 143.1 µM), and P. falciparum (IC50 of 78.6 µM) with low selectivity, and no activity against L. donovani intramacrophage amastigotes[1].
