Procyanidol B4 ((-)-Procyanidin B4) is an orally active polyphenol found in Q.gilva. Procyanidol B4 exerts antioxidant activity by scavenging DPPH (HY-112053) (IC50: 12.15 μM) and Nitro blue tetrazolium chloride (NBT) (HY-15925) (IC50: 8.67 μM). Procyanidol B4 exhibits anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting the expression of COX-2 and IL-1β and iNOS[1][2].
In Vitro: Procyanidol B4 (1-100 μM, pretreatment for 2-3 hours, and then treatment for 20 hours) shows a significant inhibitory effect on NO production in LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells (IC50: 1.44 μM), demonstrating potent anti-inflammatory activity[1].
