4-Ethylresorcinol is a derivative of resorcinol and can serve as a substrate for tyrosinase. 4-Ethylresorcinol has anti-hyperpigmentation and antioxidant effects and can inhibit melanin synthesis. 4-Ethylresorcinol has potential whitening value[1][2].
In Vitro:4-Ethylresorcinol (10-40 μM; 5 days) can inhibit the expression of TRP-2, the levels of cAMP, and the activities of PKA and tyrosinase in Melan-a cells[2].
4-Ethylresorcinol (0-150 μM; 1 h) can inhibit lipid peroxidation in mouse liver microsomes, with an IC50 of 38.4 μM[2].
