8-Azahypoxanthine is a purine analog and an inhibitor of hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase (HGPRT). 8-Azahypoxanthine exhibits antitumor activity and can be used in the research of tumors such as adenocarcinoma[1][2].
In Vitro:8-Azahypoxanthine (10 μg/mL) in the medium containing 10% normal FBS reduces the cloning efficiency of HeLa S3 cells to nearly 0 (complete lethality), while exerting no effect on the cloning efficiency of normal diploid fibroblasts[1].
8-Azahypoxanthine can inhibit the colony formation of the human epidermoid carcinoma cell line H. Ep. No. 2 and suppress the growth of Ca 755 cells (cultured mouse adenocarcinoma 755 cells)[2].
In Vivo:8-Azahypoxanthine (non-toxic dose; intraperitoneal injection; Day 1-11) exhibits antitumor activity in a mouse model of adenocarcinoma [2].
